This year for Spring Break we decided at the last minute to take Daniel, Hunter and Noah to San Diego. McKenzie couldn't go because she has her nursing classes at the MATC and had to do some clinicals, and Autumn had to work! It was fun to just go with the boys though. We flew out on Tuesday and got there in the early evening. We actually stayed in Carlsbad just a mile from Lego Land. We rented a fun little SUV and stayed at the Inn at America Suites.
On Wednesday we went to Lego Land which was the boys favorite place. We had been there about 4 years ago before Bobby's mission and they had so much fun then they could hardly wait to go back. It is so fun because everything is made out of Lego's and all of the rides have a Lego theme. If you have boys then you know all about Lego's. Daniel and Hunter had the time of their lives going on the big Roller Coaster. They would get off and get back in line. And the line wait was anywhere from a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes, but they did not care. Lego Land also has a Sea Life Aquarium now. It was o.k. but nothing compared to Sea World, so I don't know if I would go again if I were going to Sea World. Noah said his favorite part was walking through the Lego city where everything is made from Lego's. They even had the white house which was way cool!
On Thursday we went to Sea World. We stayed there from opening at 10:00 until closing at 9:00. Again, the boys could not get enough of the Roller Coaster ride called Atlantis! On this ride you get wet because it has a big drop into the water. I wouldn't go on it until the end of the day because I was not going to walk around the park wet all day, but I did go back to the Hotel very wet that night. There was also a river ride that got us very wet. We went on that at the end of the night. During the day the line was always so long, but in the evening there was no line at all so when the ride ended they would just let us go again, and again! Noah of course loved seeing the sharks and the Shamu show!
On Friday we went to the Wild Animal Safari and to the Beach. I enjoyed the Animal Safari more than the boys. There was a lot of walking, but we did get to go on an open bus ride through the park and see a lot of animals. Too bad for the boys there was no roller coaster, but there was a Carousal! The Beach was a lot of fun. Something about water, sand and boys! It was fun to watch the surfers. The water was freezing but that didn't keep the boys out of the water! One thing I thought was weird is that their were squirrels running around on the beach. I never saw that in Oregon when I would go to the beach there.
On the last day, Saturday, our first stop was at the Strawberry farm to get some yummy, giant, California Strawberries! They are the best!!!
Then we decided to go to San Diego to Belmont park. On the way we stopped by the San Diego LDS Temple. You see it as you drive on the Freeway. It seriously looks like Cinderella's Castle. It is so beautiful.
After that we made our way to Belmont Park. It is an amusement park on a boardwalk along the beach! Of course Daniel and Hunter were in Heaven. For $20.00 you got a wrist band to ride the rides as many times as you wanted. They got there moneys worth. There wasn't a lot of people there so they were able to ride all the rides they wanted over and over again without even waiting in line. They had the time of their lives and were actually feeling a little sick by the time we left. Noah didn't really want to ride the rides so much so we walked down to the beach with him and left the boys to their play! It was a really fun place and will have to make sure next time we go we go there again!
We flew home that night. It was so much fun! I asked the boys what they liked best, and they all said Lego Land! Wednesday was my Birthday. I thought it was nice of me to take everyone on this little trip for my birthday! I do have to say one last thing though. I got a little taste of what my life is going to be like once McKenzie is off at school and it is just me and the boys and James! I can tell you it is going to be smelly with lots of disgusting sounds!! :)
In the post below is the video I made from all of the pictures. It is long. like 11 minutes. But it isn't nearly as long as it could have been. I cut out over 100 pictures to make it shorter! Sorry that Noah is in most of the pictures. He still likes to get his picture taken, unlike Daniel who ducked out of most every picture!! ENJOY!!!
