4th Grade

We just started the 3rd week of School............
The above picture is Noah on the first day.
He really was excited about going back to school although it does not look like it.
He just hated getting his picture taken and thought for sure I was going to make him late
for the bus.  But he made it in time................

I thought I was excited for school to start.
No more bored kids fighting all of the time.....My house could stay clean for a few hours a day......
and quite possibly the food would stick around a little longer!

But now reality has hit!! 4th grade homework! Ugh!!!
I hate homework.  I hate it worse than my kids!
I forgot how much I hate it..........
but it did not take long for that memory to return!

Monthly book reports!  I hate them!

Below I am including a picture from Noah's last book report of 3rd grade!
They are soooooooo much work...............

He did his book report on "Where The Red Fern Grows".
He had to make a Panorama thingy ma bob, about the book!
So this is what we came up with. His teacher liked it so much she kept it!
So nice to know I can still get an "A" in the 3rd grade!

Funny story about this book.
The boys were all talking about how their teachers would read this book
to them during reading time in grade school and how the teacher would always cry.
They thought that was so funny. I told them that my teacher, Miss Backman, in the 5th grade at
Malabon Elementary School, also read this book to my class, and she also cried.
(They were shocked that this book was around a 100 years ago when I was in grade school)!!
Anyway, we had a good laugh about crying over this book!
One night Noah and I were reading this book together and he fell asleep,
so I just kept reading and as I was reading towards the end when Little Ann dies
lying on Old Dan's grave I found myself crying and so happy that I was just reading it
to myself and not Noah!  Now that would have been embarrassing and I probably
would have never heard the end of it.
In stead of reading that part with Noah I just gave him a brief, unemotional,
version of how the story ended.............
Brief and to the point!  No tears! It was for the best........

Anyway, back to this year.........Today he brought home his first Book Report Assignment!
He has to read a Fantasy book!
What?  Is every book not fantasy?
I guess we will soon see if I have what it takes to pass the 4th grade.........

hahaha...my teacher cried when HE read that book!
So glad I give kids about 30 minutes on Monday to work on homework! Most can complete it...and they can get on with their lives! Can't wait to read about your wedding post!
